I purchased 3 sets of these Tent Nails at Academy Sports, 2.97 a pack. I guess you could use just the nails from Home Depot or Lowes, but thought it would be easier to use with the attachment on them already.
Purchased a 10ft roll of 1/2 inch plastic tubing from Lowes,8.00 dollars. I cut the pieces in various lengths. 12 to 6inches. Where the tubing attaches to the plastic hook, I grooved the end of each piece of tubing for a better fit.
You can see how the groove wraps somewhat to the top of the nail. Did a better job after I did a few. Below the nail head you can see the hole through the plastic stop. I drilled a 1/8 inch hole through the tubing.
Used stuff from home, took a screw, added a washer, pushed it through the green stop, added a lock washer and nut. Snug as a bug. Note I was getting better cutting the groove for the tubing.
Took some self sealing silicone tape, 1/2 x 3 (the roll I have is 1inch wide, so cut it in half) wrapped the green plastic at the bottom. I was not sure if the green attachment would slip or not. So just in case.
I played with the stands in the yard, by angling the nails could make the tubing flex more,, had to use the water hose,, Beast is in storage.
Not sure if the tubing cuts are too long. Will have to use them and see how they do. I made different sizes and will try them out. Will not be a problem to shorten the longer tubes.
I am going to go ahead and publish this set up, will not post on it any forum until I try them out. I realize some people like to look at my projects.
